For the previous spring collection, the Italian luxury house Gucci had foraged from the American dream, with a strong resonance to Hollywood, and a runway that was decorated with a star front row consisting the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow in the very Gucci-esque red velvet suit. Staged with Hollywood Boulevard in the backdrop in the centre of LA’s hustle and bustle, there was a delicate balance of the Gucci branding—under Alessandro Michele’s tutelage— that is an eclectic imprint, bringing together a sporty mix of aesthetics that finds its roots in the American film landscape.
